The glossary below contains many of the terms you will find in common use throughout the Symantec Security Response website. Please refer to this list to find definitions of terms and answers to other Internet security-related questions.

department partitions

In Enterprise Vault, departments can be organized into partitions to restrict the scope of searches. For example, an administrator can restrict searching in some departments to messages to and from certain other departments.

If no department partitions are defined, searches initiated in one department can include the messages of any employee in any other department and messages to or from the Internet. However, if department partitions are defined, searches are restricted to messages to and from monitored employees in departments in the same partition.
