firewall rule

Symantec Sygate Enterprise Protection only. A stipulation that helps determine whether or not a computer can gain access to a network. For example, a firewall rule may state “Port 80 is allowed.” A type of rule that enables a system administrator to create security rules without having to define priorities, severities, triggers, and events. Examples of rules could be a rule that allows trusted applications, a rule that allows hosts, a rule that allows VPNs, etc.
