storage pool

The main data repository in PureDisk. PureDisk writes backup copies of content and metadata to the disk storage that is associated with a storage pool. A storage pool consists of one or more PureDisk nodes.

A single entity representing a collection of LUNs. Using storage pools, storage administrators can create virtual disks of different sizes. These virtual disks can then be assigned to virtual machines.

A logical construct that contains one or more LUNs from which file systems can be created.

A storage pool is defined within a disk group in VxVM for use by ISP. A storage pool is a policy-based container for LUNs and volumes. This means that the templates, capabilities and policies that are associated with a storage pool define how storage is organized within the pool.
