TCP Transmission Control Protocol

The protocol in the suite of protocols known as TCP/IP that is responsible for breaking down messages into packets for transmission over a TCP/IP network such as the Internet. Upon arrival at the recipient computer, TCP is responsible for recombining the packets in the same order in which they were originally sent and for ensuring that no data from the message has been misplaced in the process of transmission.

One of the core protocols of the Internet protocol suite. Using TCP, applications on networked hosts can create connections to one another, over which they can exchange data or packets. The protocol guarantees reliable and orderly delivery of data both at the sender to receiver ends.

One of the main protocols in TCP/IP networks. Whereas the IP (Internet Protocol) deals only with packets, TCP enables two hosts to establish a connection and exchange streams of data. TCP guarantees delivery of data and also guarantees that packets are delivered in the same order in which they were sent.
